Our Story

Growing Up Miami was founded by Jessica Concepcion and DeAnna Padgett, two highly creative and awesome South Floridians. 

Jessica Concepcion is a first generation Cuban American, born and raised in Miami, Florida. She is an artist, graphic and website designer. She learned most of the phrases on her original designs from her very loving and very, very loud Cuban family. Jessica loves all things nature...especially birds. You can find her original artwork and prints on her website.

DeAnna Padgett moved to South Florida over 30 years ago and has been inducted as an honorary Floridian by Jessica's Cuban family. Her background is in sales and business management. She came up with most of the designs on Growing Up Miami (she came up with the best ones) despite not being Cuban and only knowing enough Spanish to talk and laugh with Jessica's Mima. She's now an honorary Cuban.  DeAnna loves all the pretty things...music, art, design and Mima's flan.

Together they were inspired to share Miami's flavor and sass with the world. DeAnna comes up with the ideas and Jessica brings them to life as artwork and designs. Then DeAnna asks her to change it. We get there eventually. :)
